It’s a time to remember those affected by suicide, to raise awareness, and to focus efforts on directing treatment to those who need it most. We will be hosting speakers from the Natrona County Suicide Prevention Task Force (NCSPTF) on September 10th.
Jason Whitmire, and Lance Neiberger
Jason is a geologist in training and truck driver. He has volunteered for the Natrona County Suicide Prevention Task Force (NCSPTF) since 2017.
Lance is a petroleum engineer living in Casper, Wyoming.
Suicide is one of the only preventable forms of death. It is a tragic event that affects more people than what meets the eye. Wyoming is among the nation’s suicide belt and as of 2019 Wyoming has the worst rate in the nation. Mental trauma and hopelessness are the biggest predictions of suicidal ideation. All ages and ethnicities fall victim to suicide, but the middle age white male is at the highest risk. Suffering individuals become accustomed to the pain leading them into a downward spiritual that is difficult to climb out of. This presentation is intended to raise awareness and to help people be more comfortable with helping someone at risk of suicide.
